Team Meeting Time Survey

By emac • Aug 23rd, 2007 • Category: Facilitation

Dear Team,

In an effort to minimise inbox overload, and in response to your great feedback, enthusiasm and determination, I have decided to dedicate this blog post to you.

I agree with the comments Arabella Hay made in a recent email to you all;

“…you are all doing a fantastic job and thoroughly enhancing the skills and knowledge of your Faculties and Campus’s….”

“…it’s time now to consolidate, refresh and explore embedding new ideas and practices. So, perhaps entering a different phase with a different ‘look and feel’… ”

StarAccepting the role as a Faculty or Workplace e-Learning contact is a massive commitment considering how busy you all are. I am aware that you are all devoting more hours to this project than allocated and I am seeing some wonderful blog’s, wiki’s, Del.icio.us pages, Moodle Courses, etc as a result. I am also getting some great feedback from teachers, head teachers, faculty managers and our Institute Director about the wonderful support and work you are all doing.

So thank you all for your effort and hard work so far!

Welcome to Phase 2

Arabella has succinctly captured your feedback in the comments above. Having taken your feedback and suggestions on board, we are now busy preparing for Phase 2 of our project.

Let’s revisit some of the technologies we have explored to date and focus on ways to embed these technologies (as appropriate) into your Faculty or Workplace. In addition, let’s explore a couple of tools that you can use to engage colleagues in using the technologies you have explored so far; Jing, Bridgit and Adobe Connect.

I hope you’ll join me next week for the first Technolog-e session of Phase2.

In this session we will create quick some demonstrations that you can upload to your wiki/ blog or email to your colleagues, using the program Jing (you will need to download and install Jing prior to this session – you may require the HelpDesk for this).

We’ll follow this up with some Adobe Connect training for you, and we will use these sessions to look at ways to further embed the technology you have already explored. Technolog-e Session Schedule

Times

It’s always going to be hard finding times that suit you all. So I invite you to make some selections on the survey below. The most popular times will be selected.

This form was built using the Web2.0 tool Wufoo, it’s a great tool, easy to use web based form builder. It’s well worth signing up for a demo and using on your wiki’s and blog’s! Have a look at some example forms here.

  1. Hi Alex

The Wufoo looks really cool but maybe I am missing something as a visitor to your site if I clicked on the times/dates wouldn’t these register. And how would you know if all your participants had replied? and not some stranger?

  2. Hi Alex

I just sat through your recorded version of the Moodle session. It was great! I can’t wait to play!

Your doing a fantastic job! :)

  3. Hi Alex,

I believe the tasks we are taking on as members of the Learning Technologies Teams are challenging, exhilarating, sometimes scary, but most importantly….pioneering. The results of our explorations into electronic teaching and learning tools will greatly benefit our current and future NCI students, and also I believe, the quality of relationships between staff within and across faculties. Its a credit to the Institute that it values the development of these teaching and learning skills.

The digital world is upon us and throwing us more information than we sometimes feel we can deal with. However the support from The Hub, and also the space and safety to explore and experiment in our own ways, sustains our journeys. Each and every time I have required information or support to fulfill my role as a WeLC, a friendly and helpful response has come straight back at me!

Congratulations and thank you to you all….. especially Alex, Des and Arabella for taking the helm :)

  4. Thanks for the opportunity to use all these wonderful tools! Really appreciate your commitment and staying power.

  5. Hi Alex -

Confidence is a dynamic state – and some days I get the elearning stuff, and other days I feel like I’m floundering. I think it’s called learning – which is why our name (LTT) is so apt.

The learning will happen for us in our own way – some of us will jump on board right away – some of us watch the circuit a couple of times and then get on, some of us won’t even do that. But its OK, isn’t it??

  6. Hi Sue,
Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you on this one. I have been very busy!

Are you kidding? Do you think people will go and fill out a form on a voluntary basis? LOL – not in my experience!

Actually, I did think about all of your questions. You can set a password for the form, but that throws up another barrier to any new users and as a trial, I have asked for responses by email as well.

Not everyone has voted yet, but I will publish the wufoo report so you can all see it.

    Regards,
    Alex

  7. Hi Lexie, Regan, Helen and Linda,

Just a quick note to thank you for leaving a comment on my blog.

One of the tips I learnt recently is to comment on other people’s blogs when you can, but I find time a big problem.

You are all so busy. So thanks for taking the time to read and comment on the blog post.

If you would like to leave the address of your site (if you have a blog) when you leave a comment, I will return the favour and comment on yours. This would be a great way to build a little LTT blog community and you will get some ideas how to carry this type of communication through with your students.

    Cheers and thanks,
    Alex

  8. Hi, In the time survey I am not available Tuesdays as I teach all day- but the survey will not let me not choose a Tuesday time! So please disregard my Tuesday choice.

  9. Hi Donna,

I think I closed the survey! The votes were already counted…

    Thanks for visiting though.
