Be a Superhero…
By alex miller • Sep 25th, 2007 • Category: Fun Stuff, Web ToolsSo you’re wondering where I’ve been?
Okay, it’s time for me to come clean about the reason I haven’t been blogging a couple of weeks.
On my way home from work last week, I tripped and fell into a tub of radioactive waste… (not really, I’ve had a bad cold… almost as painful) and have since developed Super Support Powers!

Thanks to JoKay, who also visited this website, I am now Super Spinner, with super strength and penetrating x-ray vision.
Once my transformation was complete, I was able to download my very own Super Hero kit with appropriate cut-outs (sig, mask, undies) and other goodies.
Do you want to be Superhero? Come on, Transform yourself… it’s easy!
You can even use it in your ToonDoo!

Thanks Mark. It’s fun isn’t it?
Nice avatar btw. Are you on Twitter?
Have you tried Lastfm?
More toys for the holidays…
Enjoy,
Alex
Very much good fun Alex. I’ve been collaborating with my classes to produce superhero kits for their class teachers. Good fun. Vigorous discussion at times when touching upon some of the not so desirable attributes of certain staff members….but the adage “If you cant say something nice, then….” applies here. The teachers love the cool posters they get.
The avatars name is Aaronis Laarson. look him up some time inworld. (I’ll have time during hols to catch up with my secondlife).
Tried lastfm a way back and found it to be bandwidth hungry. I share a meagre 6gb per month with two ravenous children, (10 and 12) who both lead active and productive online lives. so the bandwidth gets metered and shared accordingly. (If you don’t clean your bedroom I’ll throttle back your monthly allocation) So good ole analog abc north coast does it for me, (and Radio national podcasts)
Twitter? No, am aware of it and see it all around me but I’m happy to lead less of an online life at the moment. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt though. What do you see are the benefits of twitter? Can those benefits be applied to my classroom?
Great blog Alex, keep at it.
happy hols……

Hi Mark,
I’m glad you’ve had fun with your class and the Superhero kits. It’s nice to have a bit of fun.
I’ll add Aaronis Laarson as a friend for sure!
I love Radio National. Last week there was a really interesting story on Harvard University, the desire of parents in Malaysia to get their children in, ho hard it is to get the attention of a professor and how they prepare their students to be entrepreneurial. Download the podcast
Interest in Twitter as a Social Networking tool seems to be quite high at the moment. Instant feedback and responses from my network when I need some help/ advice/ resources is a huge benefit for me. Also, making more personal connections with my network, not just about work, hearing about their kids, their frustrations is great fun and makes the connections stronger.
If you want to have a play, let me know when you join up. I’ll introduce you to some of the great educators and innovators in my network so you can follow our conversations.
Yes, can be a bit time consuming, but again, it’s only what you make it.
Thanks for taking the time to comment on and visit my blog.

Well for me twitter is an important way I connect with educators and share ideas. I have shown twitter to my students and they do not quite get it - so I think that probably using IM tools initially would be a better options or let them set up their own community in Facebook because at the moment they relate to these tools better. That is not to say that twitter does not have educational value its just that they relate to the other tools better.

The jury is still out for me with Twitter in an ed setting. Great for contacting colleagues on the fly. My first reaction to Twitter was ‘great for instant feedback on survey-type projects’ … and I found the timeline on the map to be a great example of how we’re all logged in globally if we need to be …
